NEW CHALLENGE: KALAHARI DESERT (KAEM 250)

Next October 20th, I will start one of the important sport-adventure challenges of the year, running the KALAHARI AUGRABIES EXTREME MARATHON (KAEM 250).

I love multi stages ultra marathons in self-sufficiency in special places around the world, for the environments we discover and for being the closest thing between competition sport and uncertain adventure. And the one I’m about to start is one of the TOP in the world.

We will cross the Kalahari desert running for 250Km. in 6 stages (7 days), doing between 30 and 80Km. per day, supporting temperatures up to 45ºC and being totally autonomous (except in the water supply).

For security reasons, only 100 participants are allowed to run KAEM250, because especially in the first two days savanna and desert are combined, and it is necessary to have the group controlled for the “special” fauna of the area. But this will allow us to enjoy a great variety of landscapes and terrains, and share some stages with some of the most impressive animals in Africa.

As I usually say, for me sport is the medium, and adventure and living intense experiences in very special places on our planet is the goal. Here these goals will be perfectly fulfilled, but at the same time I hope to have a good performance at the competition level, because I also like to push hard and do my best on the race ranking.

The race takes place in the National Park of the Augrabies, in the part of the Kalahari desert of South Africa, and will consist of the following stages:

  • Stage 1 (day 20/10): 25Km.
  • Stage 2 (day 21/10): 35Km.
  • Stage 3 (day 22/10): 38Km.
  • Stage 4 (days 23-24/10): 78Km.
  • Stage 5 (day 25/10): 48Km.
  • Stage 6 (day 26/10): 26Km.

I want to especially thank my WAA sponsor, for having trusted me and made it possible to participate in this great Adventure Race. I will fight for the WAA ULTRA colors with passion!
