This year we will dedicate the classic Running out “Sunrise in Cabrera” on Sunday December 23, to remember Laura Luelmo and claim the right of all women to leave home without fear, alone, free and without danger.
Runners meetiings are being held all over Spain along this week, to honor this 26-year-old girl from Zamora who was found dead near El Campillo (Huelva) after going out for a run.
We are a group (mostly men) that for 10 years we are going to run the last Sunday before Christmas, leaving at 6 o’clock in the morning from L’Esquirol in ordert to reach the Sanctuary of Cabrera and see the sunset over there, and return to the same point to make a good breakfast. Amagical 22Km to enjoy nature, a spectacular sunrise, wish happy holidays and do sport in freedom and lots of inspiring energy.
For this reason, we want to dedicate this year’s meeting to this specific cause in order to fight sexism and ask for the security and equality of women in general. Almost all of us are men and we never have to worry about this essential issue that is to be able to enjoy nature alone or accompanied in full freedom and security; but that does not mean that we do not have to worry about the part that does affect women.
Well, it’s for you, Laura … and for all the women who have been abused, mistreated, or who for some reason have to live with fear. We will see the sun rising wishing that you all can see the sun rise every day with fullness of life and happiness.
NOTE: … If someone wants to come, we’ll meet in front of Hostal Collsacabra at 5h50 to start running at 6 o’clock… better send a message here or to my instagram @albertbosch_ (It’s a quite demanding route of about 22Km with 1,000 +… Must be well wrapped and wear a front lamp)
