I’ll be part of the Sustainability Comission with José M.Baldasano and Ignasi Cubiñà.
Three experts on sustainability we have joined forces to advise on the sustainability project of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell, in which the tournament has been working on for the last two years. In 2017 the tournament received the sustainable event certificate and in 2018 it deserved the ISO 20121 of sustainable event management systems.
The incorporation of this trio of well-known specialists to advise not only the tournament, but also the Real Club Tenis Barcelona (RCTB) in its sustainability strategy, extends this upward line of responsibility with the environment.
During the tournament, the three will lead a day of reflection on the subject to put in value all that has been done in recent seasons in environmental terms, and what remains to be done, and explain the success of the project that aims to place Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell as a reference worldwide in terms of sustainable management of events of this nature. The act does not have a date yet, but it will be held in the competition week of the tournament (April 20-28) at the RCTB-1899 sports center.
The profiles of my two colleagues in this project are the following:
- José María Baldasano is Professor of Environmental Engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and Rey Jaime I Award for the Environment.
- Ignasi Cubiñà is a biologist, entrepreneur, with more than 25 years of experience in the industrial sector, co-founder of Ecointelligentgrowth SL, international pioneer in Cradle to Cradle and Circular Economy.
I’m always very happy to push a little bit the world to a more sustainable future through the sport and adventure activities.
