• I will run this Adventure Race promoting a charity action with the mature forests, and to propose to all of you to create a Great Forest Reserve in the “Milany Forest”

  • Goal: to protect 1m2 for each meter I’ll run in the Gobi March

  • With 1€ we protect 100m2 of forest for 1 year
  •  Mature forests are threatened and host the greatest terrestrial biodiversity and are a key source of health and well-being

My next personal challenge is running the GOBI MARCH adventure race in Mongolia from July 28 to August 3, but with this I am proposing a greater (and much more valuable) challenge shared with all of you, in order to protect a part of the forest territories most threatened and with greater ecological value, such as mature forests.

The sport goal will be running 250,000 meters (250Km.) in self-sufficiency during 6 stages through the Gobi steppe desert. And the charity goal is obtaining resources to protect 250,000 square meters (25 Hectares) of the “Milany Forest”.

Those of you who follow me know that I always try to make my adventures sustainable and focused to disseminate and promote attitudes and actions of respect and environmental protection. But with this initiative we want to go a little further, proposing that we create a small community of active protectors of a key part of our natural environment. Mature forests harbor the greatest terrestrial biodiversity and are an essential source of health and well-being. They only represent 20% of the earth’s forests (5-10% in Spain) and are severely threatened by intensive agriculture, urbanization, unsustainable logging, mining and other factors which they are accelerating their demise.

Whenever I take part in this kind of challenges, I see that there are athletes from other countries who take charity actions taking advantage of all the energy and visibility in their activity.  But they are almost always charity actions with social issues, which, although they are very important and of great value, tend to leave little room for environmental causes. For this reason, and although it is not so easy to connect with the emotions of people with an environmental protection action, I focus on this issue, because in the end, taking care of nature is the most social thing possible. To be in solidarity with nature is to be with all of humanity. Protecting forests is key to having a healthy nature. And having a healthy nature is key to having a healthy society.

With the XCN (Nature Conservation Network) we have launched the SAVE A FOREST platform, to promote concrete actions to preserve forests of high ecological value. And this action of the Gobi March is the first one to be linked to this project.

From 1€ you can already protect 100m2 of this forest for a year. The objective is to preserve 25 Hectares (250,000m2) for a minimum of 25 years (extendable), according to the agreements with the property and to be considered a Great Forest Reserve.

We all want to save the world, but we have to start somewhere.

Enter the web to learn more and make your donation. All together we are going to manage to protect this forest.
