El proper mes de maig farem el descens integral en Kayak del riu Tàmesis.
Un projecte relativament curt (uns 10 dies), però apassionant per múltiples factors:
- 346Km des de la font fins el mar
- Creuant tota Anglaterra d’oest a est
- Passant per llocs tant emblemàtics com Oxford, Windsor, Eton, el centre de Londres, i per sota de lcònic Pont de Londres i el Big Ben
- Parts del riu tranquil·les, parts més complicades, i part de mar amb marees de fins a 7 metres de variació
- 45 encluses
- 180 Illes al riu
- 200 ponts… des d’alguns moderns, fins algun de romà de fa 2.000 anys
Fa uns anys vàrem baixar integralment el riu Ebre (el 2n. més llarg que desemboca a la mediterrània després del Nil), i va ser una experiència enorme, al descobrir un territori des d’una visió diferent, híper connectada a la natura, i tant exigent com relaxant per la ment.
I súper feliç de compartir una altre aventura amb el meu gran amic Pepe Ivars, amb qui ja acumulem múltiples aventures polars i desèrtiques.
A més a més, aprofitarem aquest projecte per entendre millor i divulgar sobre la sostenibilitat dels ecosistemes fluvials, en un riu preciós i emblemàtic com el Tàmesis, però molt maltractat per tot el desenvolupisme industrial de la Gran Bretanya dels darrers dos segles.
