Today’s reflection centers on the importance of knowing how to be alone and, above all, knowing how to be with yourself.
Being alone does not simply mean having no one around you. It means making the most of that space to talk to yourself, observe yourself, ask yourself questions, learn, reflect, make decisions, find inspiration and even have a laugh with yourself. However, we often fill every moment of solitude with social media, TV series, podcasts or music to avoid that connection.
Learning to be with yourself is essential for developing self-awareness, emotional intelligence, self-control and self-motivation, as well as for improving relationships with others.
So make a point of practising this: set aside two or three hours each week to do something entirely on your own, without music or distractions, simply being present and connecting with yourself.
The underlying idea is simple yet powerful: it’s not about filling the time you spend alone, but about learning to truly enjoy and make the most of that time with yourself.
